McAfee Data Protection OEM Partners

OEM Partners

An OEM partner satisfies a market requirement by obtaining technology from another company rather than by developing it themselves. McAfee® technology is embedded seamlessly into their solution's architecture and is often re-branded. OEM partners always provide their own licenses to their end users and offer protection within such licenses for all suppliers of technology that are embedded within the solutions.

HP

More than 1,000,000 laptops go missing each year, causing an estimated $4-billion worth of lost data. More than 15 years, McAfee provides encryption technology to keep lost data away from unauthorized individuals. Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools was developed with the understanding that often the data stored on a computer is much more valuable than the hardware itself. HP ships computers with Drive Encryption technology pre-installed and embedded in the BIOS. The BIOS placement provides the highest level of data protection and because it provides authentication at the BIOS level and passes the right for access along to the operating system —the most secure way to ensure proper authentication. Once shut down, the entire hard disk (including all its contents) are encrypted with military strength encryption algorithms —rendering it useless to those not allowed access the computer.
