Objectives
Our expert consultants help you plan, implement and learn how to manage your McAfee GroupShield installation in your Microsoft Exchange environment. We apply our best practices and proven expertise to deliver comprehensive protection for your enterprise against Internet worms, viruses and other malicious threats that enter and spread via e-mail attachments.
Tasks Performed:
Assessment and Analysis
We start by working with your team to understand your current environment.
- Comprehensive analysis of your hardware and software within the Microsoft Exchange environment
- Review architectural diagrams or other documentation depicting the current Exchange environment and planned changes
- Review existing Exchange configuration and performance characteristics
- Discuss network bandwidth specifications across LAN/WAN links
- Review the existing Exchange specifications, such as RAM, hard disk, CPU power, version number, and MS service pack level
- Review current anti-virus software deployed on the Exchange servers (if any)
- Identify any software or network protocols that already exist in your environment that could cause conflicts with the GSD software rollout
- Determine impact and/or software required on Exchange clients
- Review any existing alerting mechanisms in your environment and recommend support GSD alerting
- Discuss distribution requirements and recommend a distribution mechanism for GSD product software upgrades and DAT signature file updates
Setup and Configuration
- Install and configure GroupShield for Exchange on a test (non-production) server
- Verify installation, detection, and cleaning functionality using EICAR test virus
- Set-up initial alerting mechanism and verify functionality
- Install and configure GroupShield for Exchange on test (non-production) servers
- Verify the functionality of GSD on the first production server, then perform remote installs to up to six (6) other Exchange servers (on the LAN or across the WAN)
- Work with your Exchange administrator to monitor and tune the performance of the GSD software in the production network
- Recommend and implement a configuration of GSD to alert your Exchange administrator of found viral infections
- Implement a procedure to update the DAT virus signature files and product software
Training
Throughout the engagement, we train one of your team members to install, configure and manage McAfee GroupShield for Domino.
